The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) in partnership with the Compliance Institute, Nigeria (CIN) will be delivering three webinar workshops on economic sanctions.

The three webinars are:

  • Session 1: Sanctions implementation update. This session would provide an overview of significant developments on sanctions since August 2019, including (a) new sanctions developments; (b) new trends in sanctions evasion (e.g., trends drawn from United Nations Panel of Experts Reports); and (c) compliance “best practices.” This session would consist of a webinar presentation using PowerPoint slides delivered by 3 presenters and would also include time for Q&A.

 

  • Session 2: Panel discussion on cryptocurrency. This session would consist of a panel discussion by several international cryptocurrency experts discussing trends in the use of cryptocurrency to evade sanctions and compliance best practices for companies involved in cryptocurrency.

 

  • Session 3: Workshop on challenges in sanctions compliance. This session would consist of a 50-minute panel of experts from law firms and banks discussing specific challenges that they are seeing in sanctions compliance. The panel discussion would be followed by a 30-minute virtual breakout session where attendees could raise specific challenges that they are facing. There would then be a final review and closing remarks for 10 minutes.
